EMJMD – Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees, is an international study programme to reckon with. it was founded based on an international consortium of higher education institutions.
Under annual selection, EMJMDs awards EU-funded scholarship to the best applicants.
Who are the prospective applicants for this programme?
This scholarship programme is opened to many individuals and organisations but the eventual eligibility criteria differ from country to country.
Eligible countries are categorized into two: Programme Counties and Partner Countries. This division implies that the citizens from the former can partake in all Erasmus activities while citizens from the latter can only participate based on established countries.
Other Criteria and Duration
EMJMD requires 60, 90, or 120 European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) which implies that it can be used from a minimum of 12 months to a maximum of 24 months.
Who can apply?
- Students at Masters’ level can apply.
- Students who have obtained a first higher degree qualification from a degree-awarding country or must exhibit an acceptable and recognized degree of learning based on the jurisdiction of national legal practice.
Who cannot apply?
· If you have received an EMJMD or Erasmus Mundus Course/Joint Doctorate scholarship, you are not eligible to apply for the EU-funded scholarship.
What is the Academic Benefit of this Programme?
Upon the successful completion of this programme, participants will receive an award of either a joint degree (a single degree certificate issued on behalf of two higher institutions who are part of the consortium) or multiple degrees (not less than two degrees certificates issued on behalf of two higher education institution who are part of the consortium).

What Financial Support will you Enjoy?
Note that to receive EMJMD’s financial support, you must first be admitted to a course by the consortium and selected for a scholarship.
The EMJMD scholarship covers your tuition fees, library, laboratory costs, insurance, and other essential costs as a result of your participation in the master’s programme.
You should also note that the amount of the scholarship varies based on the duration of the study and nationality. For example, non-EU students are awarded larger scholarships while a minimum of 75% scholarship is granted to successful applicants from partner countries.
How do I apply?
Submission of application by each consortium is required to take place between October and January for courses starting in the following academic year. Consult the EMJMD catalogue to apply and follow the procedures.
